Grantees: Who We Support
The Donnell-Kay Foundation supports non-profit organizations that focus on public education and that encourage the development of children who are ready to succeed in school. The Foundation does not accept unsolicited proposals. However, the Foundation does accept concept papers that address statewide educational policy issues. Here are a sampling of our grantee projects; for a full grantee list, scroll to the bottom of the page or click here.
The Drop In Colorado Campaign is a new effort to reengage youth who have dropped out of school and get them on the road towards a high school diploma. This innovative campaign is the first of its kind and uses technology to leverage the staff at Colorado Youth for a Change. CYC’s dropout outreach and recovery work over the past seven years has happened in the schools, using traditional strategies to track down high school dropouts. It is a very time-intensive process. By linking text messaging technology with amped up public relations strategies, CYC hopes to engage youth across Metro Denver, providing opportunity and access to education.
Here’s how it works: If you or someone you know has dropped out of high school, you can text one of the numbers below. Once young people text CYC and visit the website address, CYC staff will follow up to provide support and guidance throughout the process of reenrollment.

EDUCATION NEWS COLORADO
Informally known as “Ed News,” the website is considered the only service devoted to continuing, in-depth news coverage of Colorado’s education policymaking in the legislature and state government. It also offers comprehensive coverage and serious analysis of issues like school choice, accountability and education reform. DK continues to fund Ed News on an annual basis because it believes that education journalism is a critical component in the reform conversation, particularly considering the continuing debate and changes going on in Denver Public Schools and statewide.
